by the way

News in brief.

  • July 10th was actually the 500th anniversary of the birth of John Calvin. I no longer feel bad about missing people’s birthdays, considering I’ve been known to forget my own – so it’s nothing personal. But I’m not going to say any more about Calvin, as you can read all about him everywhere else on the internet at the moment
  • (And July 20th will be the 40th anniversary of the moon landing)
  • Another friend has now got a blog up and running – bettynoirbettyblanc – go and have a look – politics and pro-life issues
  • Discussion is continuing on this elderly post, for anyone who isn’t following the comments.

  1. Next year (May 5, 2010, to be exact) will be the 100th anniversary of the death of Alexander Maclaren (1826-1910), the great Scottish-born English Baptist preacher – if you’re looking for a way to take your mind off Calvin for awhile.

  2. If you won’t plug it, i will!

William Cunningham, quite calmly, and being not one given to much exaggeration, says that Calvin “may be fairly regarded as being, all things considered, the greatest and most useful gift that God has given to the church since the apostolic age.”

(maybe i should try and read more of his work!)

  3. It’s shocking!

In your Dashboard, go to Links then Add New Link – you might have to specify a Category to assign the links to, eg if you already have a list called links call it blogs or whatever
